My approach to treatment

The individualised nature of holistic medicine means that I will take the time to learn about your story. I offer each individual the space to slow down and ‘just be’ during treatment, something rare in our modern world of achieving and constantly being on-the-go. The treatment room is a place where time stands still and I aim to create a safe, warm and compassionate environment in which to heal and begin your journey back to health and balance – both physically and emotionally.

Acupuncture is an incredibly powerful tool for coming back into our lived experience – bringing you back to yourself, in a time when we are all becoming increasingly disconnected from our bodies. Please visit the treatments page to read more about acupuncture and how it may help you.

I work with individuals to overcome a variety of health challenges including autoimmune conditions, chronic conditions, pain relief, mental health conditions and women’s health.

I am a fully qualified Five Element Acupuncturist. I consider the root cause of dis-ease, pain or discomfort and practice ‘whole-person’ medicine, considering all parts of you and how different factors may be affecting your health .

My own connection with acupuncture and Chinese medicine began over 10 years ago when treatment improved both my physical and mental wellbeing after returning to the UK following briefly living in Africa. I now wish to help others in the same way with this ancient healing modality. My background before acupuncture, ranged from public relations in the fashion industry to international development – ultimately, I found my way back to what I feel is my authentic path, helping others.

  • I graduated from The Acupuncture Academy in 2024 and was awarded a Distinction for their Professional Licentiate in Acupuncture, which is a three year degree qualification accredited by the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board. My training was extensive and covered all aspects of Chinese medical and acupuncture theory, with a focus on the Five-Element approach. From March-August 2023 I trained under the close clinical supervision of Sarah Matheson.

Previous to gaining my licentiate, I spent a further two years studying specifically the Five-Elements style of acupuncture, following a Master-Student style apprenticeship programme which is a common teaching modality of Chinese medicine. This means I have a strong grounding in treating from the Five Element perspective.

I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council and adhere to the Council’s Codes of Safe Practice and Professional Conduct. British Acupuncture Council members are also registered with the Professional Standards Authority which is a government body set up to regulate health and social care providers, and is accountable to Parliament.

My clinic is licensed by Brighton & Hove Council and Mid Sussex Council, and I hold full medical malpractice and public/products liability insurance cover.

  • I have a special interest in Women’s Health, from menarche to post-menopause. I am passionate about supporting women to advocate for themselves and reclaim control of their bodies, health and the care they receive. Conventional treatment for intimate health issues can often have complex emotional implications which take a toll on relationships and daily life; by incorporating women in their own healing journeys, I believe we can find compassionate routes of enquiry where women feel truly seen and listened to. I offer a gentle holistic approach to treating individuals with a wide range of conditions including; Endometriosis, PCOS, PMS, PMDD, menstrual issues, hormonal imbalances and symptoms relating to perimenopause, menopause and beyond.

The integration of conventional & holistic medicine is another area of interest which I am actively engaged in, I recently attended the IPM conference in London to learn about the latest research in integrative and personalised medicine. The modern practice of Functional Medicine and ancient teachings of Chinese medicine are both concerned with the root cause of disease. I am also a member of the College of Medicine and Integrated Health – a registered charity which works to advocate for a new attitude to healthcare: an emphasis on prevention and a multi-faceted approach to empower a healthier, happier population.

  • Long term pain has resulted in me spending years feeling broken and disconnected from my body, and for the first time, I feel more in control. With Emily’s guidance, I'm learning how to better understand myself while staying connected to my body. Having acupuncture hasn't just helped with relief of my symptoms it has also given me the confidence to listen and trust that I know what's best for my body. She advises me on how I can better support myself with lifestyle and dietary changes, but rather than telling me what to do she's helped give me the tools to go away and create better habits for myself. Although she's primarily treating me for my Endometriosis symptoms, I also have several chronic illnesses that can negatively impact on each other which she helps with. Living with long-term health issues also negatively impacts my mental health - Emily works with both my mental and physical health as one. I have been having acupuncture with Emily for just over a year now and I cannot recommend her enough. Her kind and caring nature makes her perfect for this type of work and she's amazing at what she does!
